Ralph P. Pate
Chief Elevator / Boiler Inspector

Ralph P. Pate was hired as Alabama’s first chief inspector for boilers and
elevators April 5, 2004, shortly after the programs were put in place by the State
Labor Department.
He previously served as deputy safety inspector for the Georgia Department of Labor,
a post he had held since 1985. Responsibilities included boilers and pressure vessels,
elevators and associated equipment and amusement rides as well as accident investigations.
Prior to joining the Georgia Labor Department, Mr. Pate was employed by Duracell
Battery Company, the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company and
the Kemper Group.
Mr. Pate is an Air Force veteran with experience as a heating systems technician
and boiler operator. He obtained the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel
commission (NB 8935) in 1979. He also attended Alabama Christian College in Mobile.
He is married to the former Christine McDaniel of Heflin and resides in Wetumpka.
