File Your Unemployment Compensation Appeal in Writing

The Alabama Department of Industrial Relations announces that, effective immediately, all appeals involving Unemployment Compensation (UC) cases should be in writing.

Written appeals may be sent to :

Hearings & Appeals
State of Alabama
649 Monroe Street
Montgomery, AL  36131

or faxed to: (334)-242-2084.

Note: Appeals must be received by the Hearings and Appeals Division within the time allowed by law.

Prior to establishment of the call centers, all appeals had to be in writing. Allowing appeals to be filed by telephone through the call centers has not proven to be administratively feasible. Filing appeals by telephone has resulted in a huge backlog of cases and delayed payment of benefits to claimants.

Initial claims for UC benefits still must be made by telephone by calling Industrial Relations Call Centers.
