Worker's Compensation - Electronic Claims Filing
|
Mandate Due to delays beyond our control or companies’ control, the August 01, 2007 date for companies to have their computer systems programmed to begin sending First Report of Injury (FROI) claims to Alabama Workers Compensation Division (AWCD) using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) method instead of submitting paper documents has been extended. AWCD will continue to work diligently with those companies currently submitting paper documents to enable electronic filing and will continue accepting FROI by email or fax until the process has been completed. Our target completion date for this enhancement is projected for January 2, 2008. Subsequent Report of Injury (SROI) claims will still be required on paper. Trading partners should ensure their SROI documents are sent after AWCD has received their electronic FROI record and a transaction accepted acknowledgement record has been returned. Trading partners may begin their electronic claims processing by submitting a Trading Partner Agreement to AWCD and completing the required testing process. AWCD is accepting EDI FROI files using Release 1 and Release 3 formats which are the standards of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards & Commissions (IAIABC). AWCD will continue to accept EDI FROI files in Release 1 format until the IAIABC discontinue its usage.
